If you are working for a government or nonprofit organization, and would like to assist the industry in their efforts to reduce pollution and enhance the environment, there are potential opportunities to obtain funding, marketing, and technical assistance from several established sources.
The MTC has helped hundreds of companies improve their level of environmental stewardship during the past eight years by partnering with the U.S. EPA's Pollution Prevention Program and business-focused organizations such as the state's Manufacturing Extension Partership (MEP) and the Small Business Development Center Network (SBDC). These nation-wide providers work with the industry and small businesses to help them be more competitive in the world market. By working in partnership with such providers in your state, your organization can more easily find the companies that are desiring assistance. By providing confidential and non-threatening pollution prevention assistance (i.e. no regulatory penalties or fear of liability), organizations such as the MTC (and perhaps yours), can help small businesses better manage their environmental issues.
Your organization could also help companies obtain ISO 14000 Certification, which is an important world-market "stamp of approval" that indicates that a business has an extensive environmental management program in place.
Grant funding assistance is available at times and in various states from such entities as the U.S. EPA's Pollution Prevention Program, the SBDC Network, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the National Institute of Science and Technology's (NIST) MEP state-based programs. If you would like to learn more, the U.S. EPA has asked that we share our program of success with you so that it can be repeated across the county. Please contact the MTC for more information!
We look forward to hearing from you.
